This address exists because someone has to read the mail. That someone is also the editor, the columnist, the IT department, and occasionally the cleaning crew. Response times vary based on the news cycle, the columnist's patience, and whether the thing you are writing about is currently on fire.
Tips and corrections get a faster response than everything else. This is not a policy so much as a reflection of what George Wicks finds interesting.
What To Send:
- Tips, leads, documents, things powerful people would prefer stay quiet...yes.
- Corrections...yes, and thank you, genuinely.
- Thoughtful disagreement...welcome, surprising, and occasionally published.
- PR pitches...received with the attention they deserve, which is none.
- Requests to "tone it down"...filed appropriately.
- Legal threats...forwarded to Hustler Magazine v. Falwell, 485 U.S. 46 (1988). Your attorney can explain.
